5 Reasons to Attend our High School Reunion

Look, I know that at this point in our lives, a 10-year reunion doesn't seem like that big of a deal.  With "Facebook fatigue", we all think we know everything going on with the people we really care about the most from our time in school.  And let's face it... it takes guts to come out and see people you may not have kept in touch with for the past decade!

But there are actually some really great reasons to attend our high school reunion.

5.  You can escape your family for a bit on the long holiday weekend, and enjoy some good food, drinks, and atmosphere!  It's downtown Bloomington, on a magical night when the sparkly lights kick off.  You don't need too much of an excuse to enjoy a night out.  And Grazie makes good food.

4.  It's not going to be awkward.  It's not.  Seriously.  Because you know what?  Everyone who is attending is going because they actually WANT to see you.  And if you're shy or it starts to feel awkward, your ticket includes two free adult beverages.  Live a little!  It's not like prom where everyone goes because they feel like it's this integral part of life, and it's all about the dress/car/etc.  This is real life!

3.  You will regret it if you don't go.  If you chicken out and don't go, you'll later be stalking all the photos on Facebook/web of how much fun everyone had without you.

2.  You can reconnect with people who lost touch with.  Remember that girl you were besties with in 9th grade, but you drifted apart and now she's changed her name and moved and you can't find her on Facebook?  Guess what, she might be at the reunion.  It's the perfect chance to strike up conversations with people you may not have known as well in high school, too.

1.  There's no substitute for seeing people in person.  Facebook may let you "like" something, but they won't let you hug, congratulate, or connect with a real human being.

BHSN Class of 2003

from the Herald-Times

Wonder what list we're using to try to reach our classmates?  THIS IS IT!  Pulled straight from my dorky scrapbook, guys.  I had my Mom scan it, and we've been pushing to reach everyone via Facebook, LinkedIn, or word of mouth.  In addition, Beth (Case) Wizner painstakingly combed through our senior yearbook to double-check and type out a list, so we make sure no one is missing.

THANK YOU to our volunteers who are trying to help us let everyone know about this site; we're at 50% contacted right now, and the reunion is coming up fast.  Please share and let your friends know about this webpage and how to reach us.  They may not care about our 10th Reunion, but someday they might care about our 25th or even 50th!

How to Use This Site

Okay, you know how to navigate a website.  But we wanted to share with you some of the features of our brand-new class page!

CLASS REUNION INFO-  Under construction, but this will be the important page you want to come back to for upcoming reunions.  You will even be able to purchase tickets to events via PayPal using this page.  Very important stuff, because this is the fun part.

IN MEMORIAM-  A tribute page to the Class of '03 Cougars we've lost.  Leave a comment sharing a favorite memory or moment with these great friends.  If you have photos or information to add, please e-mail BHSN2003@gmail.com.

FACEBOOK-  Direct link to our class Facebook page!  We will be cross-posting information between the two sites, but it's handy to check back to the main website in case something gets buried in your Newsfeed.

SPONSOR-  Purchase a sidebar ad on our website!  (We've been getting good traffic with an upcoming reunion...)  Proceeds go to maintaining our class web domain and funding class events like reunions.  You can purchase for a year (discount!) or month-to-month, for your business or even a personal shoutout like a birth announcement.  We'll even design it for free.

CLASS ROSTER-  This is a biggie.  Due to privacy acts, we cannot get a class roster from BHSN.  So we've built our roster from the yearbook up, quite literally, using our networks and trying our best to get in touch with everyone.  Fill out this form (you can choose how much info to provide) to keep us up to date on name changes and moves.  You can even pick your method of contact.  None of this info will be sold or shared outside our small (very small!) band of merry volunteers.

We've put a lot of work into this humble little site, trying to help our class stay in touch.  All we ask of you is to update your info, check in from time to time, and SHARE with classmates who may not have heard about it yet!  We're counting on you!

Thanks for stopping by!

10 Years Later...

Welcome to your life, Class of 2003.  After graduation we took off in a hundred directions so fast, we never even thought to put together a class e-mail listing or anything.  So now, years later, a hodge-podge group of us have assembled a Facebook page, attempted to solicit a database of addresses, and began trying to plan some sort of reunion to celebrate the decade since we left Bloomington North.

Did you know the school looks like this now?

This has not been without challenges.  After all, there are a zillion articles (like this one) talking about how Facebook is killing class reunions, because we don't depend on in-person meetups to see each other's wedding photos or talk about what we've been doing.  Nor do we have any sort of alumni fund to bankroll an event, or even a class list to contact everyone.  (We're this close to just dividing up the yearbook and Googling every single person.  There are only like 318 of us, I guess.)

As the years between us and good ol' BHSN increase, I'd like to think we want to see each other in person every 5-10 years.  And we could probably throw one heck of a party for our 25th.  So that is why we're only just now putting this website together and trying to do a little something.

Bookmark this page, and check back from time to time!  We're doing what we can, and life throws us curves.  But we'll keep you in the loop.

And did you know the school mascot looks like this now???
